Abstract
Introduction: This research examines the relationship between information mediation and digital preservation by studying the collection of Diogo Barbosa Machado, highlighting its historical relevance and the contemporary challenges of organizing, accessing, and maintaining collections in digital environments. Objective: To analyze how the processes of information mediation and digital preservation are articulated in the context of the collection of Diogo Barbosa Machado, considering its availability in digital environments. Methodology: The study adopts a qualitative approach, characterized as exploratory and descriptive, based on bibliographic research and the analysis of digital sources that provide access to the collection. Results: The results show that the digitization of the collection expands access and enhances information mediation, while also posing challenges related to digital curation, metadata standardization, and ensuring long-term preservation. Conclusion: Information mediation and digital preservation are interdependent processes, essential to ensuring not only access but also the authenticity and continuity of the collection of Diogo Barbosa Machado in the digital environment.
