Management and Processing of Electronic Information: : an overview of the Antonio Candido Library

Abstract

Introduction: The management of electronic information presents a challenge in contemporary society; however, it is extremely necessary, addressing new demands with innovative concepts. This reality is also evident in university libraries, where actions in information management must respond efficiently and effectively to this scenario. Objective: This study aimed to provide an overview of the management and treatment of electronic information at the Antonio Candido Library of the Institute of Language Studies, updating the work presented in the 8th edition of SIMTEC (2022). Methodology: Analyses were conducted on current demands, how they were managed, and what gaps needed to be filled. Meetings were held and hypotheses were proposed, resulting in the actions described. Results: It was possible to improve the process of treatment and availability in the institutional repository, working annually with articles, as well as to assess the percentage of books in the collection. Regarding the memorials, an appropriate routine was developed for their treatment and availability in the Unicamp Digital Library. Conclusion: With the actions presented here, the management of electronic information in the library has been and will continue to be refined, enhancing management in this area.
