Abstract
Introduction: With the advent of the New Procurement Law, which will be compulsory from 2024, it has become necessary to implement sustainable purchases that generate economic and social benefits in order to add value to public resources. It is therefore important to assist the University in developing the procurement management process and its responsibilities towards society. Objective: The aim of this work is to share the experiences gained through the International Mobility Program at Cardiff University - UK, which took place in June 2024. In this way, it will be possible to observe how this university manages its purchasing processes, the tools used and the sizing of its teams in conjunction with sustainable practices. Methodology: During the period from 10 to 24 June, several meetings and events were attended, as well as direct interviews with procurement and planning professionals at Cardiff University. In addition, the work routine of these professionals and the systems and tools used were observed. Results: With the program it was possible to learn how that university organizes and manages its purchasing processes according to sustainable practices, what the main control and management mechanisms are, what the selection criteria are, and how this experience can be used and improved by UNICAMP. Conclusion: With the New Bidding Law, it is necessary to rethink purchasing processes with a focus on efficiency in the management of public resources aligned with sustainable practices and social benefits. The program contributed to sharing experience and knowledge of new solutions.
