Abstract
Introduction: Early mobilization is a practice that contributes to reducing dysfunctions caused by prolonged bed rest of patients. The Australian Clinical Innovation Agency highlights the importance of patient Mobility and Functionality Rehabilitation (RMF) programs as a non-pharmacological prevention measure for adverse events such as thromboembolism, pressure injuries and fall risks, in addition to improving the patient's clinical condition. The culture of improvement in care processes can help reduce adverse events, as it produces non-pharmacological effects to restore motor autonomy. Objective: To implement and verify adherence to continuous improvement measures in the work process of rehabilitation of mobility and functionality (RMF) and autonomy of adult patients in the hospitalization units of the Hospital de Clínicas. Methodology: Report A3 was used to organize actions to implement continuous improvement. CREFITO-3 Ordinance No. 185/2022 organized the work process and the “Mobilize our Hospital” Week was used for simulated training and adherence. Results: There was a reduction in the therapeutic choice rate of “not mobilizing” by 0.23 in 2022 to 0.11 in 2023 and partial 2024 of 0.03. The rate of maintenance or improvement in patient mobility and functionality in 2023 was 82% and, by June 2024, it was 80.3%. Conclusion: The continuous improvement implementation project produced positive effects on the RMF adherence rate and improved patients' autonomy status.
