The impersonality of domination capitalist: three characteristics in perspective

Abstract

The current article studies three peculiar characteristics of capitalist domination which reveal its impersonal character. The first is market’s automatic compulsion on working class and the ideological mediation of this process. The second characteristic is the impersonality of capitalist forms of property, notably in the case of joint-stock companies and pension funds. Finally, the third characteristic is the impersonal element in legal and political forms produced by capitalist mode of production. The basic categories of Law and the organization of State in face of society, in strong contrast with the political organization of previous societies, indicate a classist rule that goes beyond personal conditions of ruling class members. Such perspective puts important implications to the understanding of bourgeois ideology and also to the radical opposition to capital.
