Abstract

Combining theoretical rigor and empirical research, Lúcio Flávio de Almeida, in his An illusion of development: nationalism and bourgeois domination in the JK years, seeks to contest more recent literature that affirms the disjunction between nationalism and development in the governments of the so-called populist period (1930-1964).
