Abstract

The class fracture of Brazilian society is recurrently present in our cinema. It is expressed in what we can call “representation of the popular”. After the interval of the 80s (when the most creative national production established a closed dialogue with genre cinema) the classic motifs of popular representation (the favela, the backlands, carnival, Candomblé, football, northeastern folklore).
