Another look at Stalin

Abstract

It requires intellectual courage to challenge the massive and tenacious prejudice that surrounds the image of Stalin, indissolubly associated, for the vast majority of our contemporaries, even more than with the dictatorial exercise of Soviet political power, with the increasing use of police methods of control and annihilation of opponents . Even greater courage was needed to publish, in 1994, when long columns of perplexed and discouraged deserters were abandoning the ranks of communism, a study proposing to "rediscover the revolutionary truth about the period of the pioneers".
