The author of the book, who was a professor at Stanford University and now teaches at Columbia University, USA, won the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2001. In addition to being an academic, he held important official positions: president of the Council of Economic Advisers of the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which brings together the heads of state of the richest countries in the world).
