Abstract
The three planes launched against Washington and the two towers of the World Trade Center in New York on September 11, 2001 were not just the first deadly and destructive aggression suffered by the United States on its continental territory. By reaching the financial and military centers of the American empire, the three suicide commandos proved that, with or without a "nuclear shield", there is no superpower invulnerable to a terrorist attack.
