Abstract
Born on February 10, 1898, Bertolt Brecht was drawn to literature and social issues from a young age. Sent to the medical faculty in Munich, he had the opportunity to personally witness the damage caused by the war to both soldiers and doctors: he was recruited as a nurse in 1917 and his Legend of the Dead Soldier is an expressive document of this experience, in which more than two million German soldiers, not to mention those mutilated in every way.
