Abstract
Imperialist actions carried out by nation states (or their agents) over third parties preceded capitalism. Plunder, conquest and domination of peoples or nations were their effects, always achieved through violence.
In the early days of capitalism, imperialism took on a new form, and those effects were expanded, with the search for precious metals, the slave trade, colonization and increasing mercantile profits. All of these were fundamental elements in the so-called original accumulation.
