Abstract

Although not the most famous intellectual and activist in recent Cuban history, Pedro Ross Leal was directly involved not only in the events that led to the defeat of the Fulgencio Batista government (1952-1959) and the subsequent revolution on the island, but also in the years that followed, whether as a teacher during the literacy campaigns in the 1960s, as Secretary General of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (Cuban Workers' Union), or as Cuban ambassador to Angola, a position he held until 2012. Through his lens, we learn about the purpose of this book, How the workers' parliament saved the Cuban Revolution.
