Abstract
Introduction: The special projects to support teaching, research, and extension (PAEPE), support the academic and administrative activities of the State University of Campinas, and provide the appreciation and continuous training of professionals, which results in the improvement of the services offered to society. The physiotherapists who work at the UNICAMP Clinical Hospital (HC/UNICAMP), under the PAEPE career plan, develop advanced and specific knowledge in their field and are prepared for the teaching process. Objective: to demonstrate the process of creating and implementing the first postgraduate course in Pediatric Physiotherapy at the School of Medical Sciences of the State University of Campinas. Methodology: the process began with a project by FCM/CPG normative guidelines no. 03/2021, which was submitted for analysis by the CPG and the following bodies: FCM Congregation, DAC, CCPG/PRPG, CEPE, and CONSU. Results: the course was approved in 2023 with a subsequent selection process and enrolment of the approved candidates, with the first class starting in March 2024, currently with ten students in the process of training and professional qualification, acquiring specialized knowledge, and contributing to higher quality in the routine within UNICAMP's clinical hospital. Conclusion: postgraduate courses broaden knowledge through specific areas and promote the construction of trained professionals, combining theory, practice, teaching, and research to improve the quality of the services provided to the population.
