Abstract

Peruvian, Latin American and internationalist, “convinced and confessed” Marxist, cultural and political organizer in his country, self-taught and of plebeian origin, José Carlos Mariátegui (1894-1930) is the Charlie Parker of Latin American social and political thought. A classic and immense work, which interrogated and questioned its time in the face of the complexity of existing challenges. With a short life marked by ups and downs, the Peruvian thinker's trajectory and work still arouse a mixture of mystery and fascination for non-conformist anti-capitalists. Even 90 years after his premature death, new generations rediscover his wandering trajectory, often, by “objective chance”, in spaces of political, cultural and academic socialization.
