Abstract

In Marxist dependency theory: problems and categories - a historical overview, Mathias Seibel Luce presents the results of ten years of research, dedicated to analyzing the thoughts of Ruy Mauro Marini, Vânia Bambirra and Theotônio dos Santos. A reference in the debate on Marini's category of sub-imperialism, which was the subject of his doctoral thesis, Luce expands his scope of analysis, focusing on the categories that form the central core of the Marxist theory of dependency (TMD), which are: the transfer of value as unequal exchange, split in the phases of the capital cycle, overexploitation of the workforce and dependence.
