Abstract
This work by Francisco Quartim de Moraes expands the study of the 1932 war, showing the “explicit pretexts and implicit motives” (chapter 1), the “ideology of the movement” (chapter 2), as well as the issue of “economic policy” (chapter 3) of the São Paulo movement. The first point is approached from a critical evaluation of the historiography produced about 1932, constituting an innovative aspect of the research. Based on the second theme exposed, it is understood that one of the few groups to organizely oppose the war within São Paulo was the Communist Party of Brazil (PCB). Finally, the third chapter in
shows that the 1932 war meant an attempt to reconquer, by agro-mercantile capital, the hegemony lost with the 1930 Revolution. However, we do not have space to attempt a synthesis of this set of content. So let's move on to a brief explanation of the economic and political issue.
