Abstract
The influence on the human sciences of the thought of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels and their supporters throughout history cannot be ignored, even by their most active critics. In History, Sociology, Economics, Linguistics, among others, the contribution of Marxists to the epistemology, ontology and theory of these areas was intense. However, the same does not happen in the area of International Relations (IR), in Brazil and abroad. IR, traditionally understood as relationships (generally conflictual) between States in an anarchic international system, were systematically distanced from the thinking inaugurated by the founders of modern socialism.
