Abstract

In the midst of the theoretical aridity and the enormous resistance to the Marxist strands that shape the theoretical universe of International Relations, the tasks of understanding international questions impel the insertion of a critical, concrete and complete perspective that can extrapolate the appearance and capture the essence of the social phenomena. In this sense it is necessary the rescue of ideas of one of contemporary Marxism’s symbol Joachim Hirsch and his perspective on international relations. In his works on State in capitalism, the author attributes a nodal role to the international scenario and, therefore, devotes important reflections on the vital aspect of the international relations in the capitalist mode of production: imperialism. As a result, it is important to explain its concept, emphasizing the political and economic aspects in order to unfold a fertile source for the deepening and the enhancement of internationalist studies within the Marxist theme.
