Abstract

The work Gramsci and geopolitics, by Érika Amusquivar, results from the doctoral thesis in Political Science that the author defended at the Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences at Unicamp, within the scope of research into Gramsci's thought conducted by PEPOL – Laboratório do Thought Political. It is not irrelevant to note the academic environment in which this research was developed, associating itself with many similar efforts on the relationships between space, politics and Gramsci's thought that are developing internationally, with emphasis on research carried out in the United States and in England, generally by geographers, but also in Gramsci's own Italy, important among philosophers. In Brazil, the author's effort is almost isolated, since Geography, the area most dedicated to spatial studies in our country, has offered little contribution to the topic, which in the context of redemocratization had advanced strongly in the deepening of Marxism, giving way to called Critical Geography.
