Abstract
In times when the results achieved in evaluations of scientific journals, undergraduate and postgraduate courses – based on quantitative parameters, indifferent to the logic of knowledge production and little discussed with the scientific community – are celebrated and exalted within public universities Brazilians, including sectors, groups and people who claim to be critical and progressive, Heribaldo Maia's book constitutes a timely call for an analysis of the logic that has governed academic relations under the aegis of neoliberalism and its collective and individual effects , especially with regard to the mental health of undergraduate students at Brazilian federal universities.
