Abstract
This brief essay attempts to follow in the footsteps of Octávio Brandão from when he was a young anarcho-syndicalist revolutionary militant in Alagoas, to the moment when he became one of the main founders of Marxism in Brazil and leader of the Communist Party, a phase that concluded with the sending to exile in the USSR in the early 1930s.
