Abstract
The subject of the character of the revolution, especially after the controversies stimulated by the rise of struggles around the so-called basic reforms in the 1950s, by the defeat of popular forces in the military coup of 1964 and by the resurgence of anti-dictatorial mass mobilizations in the second half of the 1960s, occasions in which a sense of urgency was imposed in debates about balance sheets and perspectives, became a classic theme among Brazilian Marxists.
