Abstract
Brazilian Marxism lost, on December 5, 2022, one of the most enigmatic of its militants: Hector Benoit, professor of Philosophy at Unicamp and former member of the Editorial Committee of Marxist Criticism. At the invitation of the magazine, we have produced in these few pages a quick presentation of his thoughts. In the 1970s, Hector Benoit entered the Faculty of Philosophy at USP, where, to escape censorship of the study of Marxism, he began his study of Plato's dialogues. The study of these dialogues profoundly marked Benoit's conception of dialectics.
