Abstract
Critical review of “The future of social protection in the midst of a protracted social crisis in Latin America: Advancing towards universal, comprehensive, sustainable and resilient systems”, a collection of studies organized by Claudia Robles and Raúl Holz, published by ECLAC in 2023. The document is an obligatory reference for the study of social policy in Latin America. Its merit lies not only in presenting a rich analysis based on an unconventional view of the functioning of capitalism and the role of the state, but also because its shortcomings prompt reflections on the future of a region that is also rich in contrasts and contradictions.
