Abstract
The presentation is divided into two parts. In the first part, I discuss the general trajectory of public policy studies, explaining that it is an interdisciplinary field composed of research and analysis of public policies that make recommendations for improving their impact, effectiveness, and efficiency. I also explain the context in which this field became established in Brazil after the country's redemocratization and the evolution of public policy evaluation methodologies since then. In the second part, I analyze the process of institutionalization of this field of study at NEPP/UNICAMP, highlighting our merits and the favorable circumstances that contributed to institutional maturity. I also point out the main challenges facing new advances in this field today.
