Photographic documentation to the UFBA (1946-2010): language, memory and information

Abstract

This study aims at the preliminary identification in order to inventory, index and, later, digitize the photographic documentation for access and dissemination of diagnostic image information of the documentary collection of the photographs, existing in the Coordination Places of Memory of the University System of Libraries of the Federal University of Bahia from the period 1946-2010. It started with the diagnosis of the documentary collection of photographs existing in all Libraries of the System, and was initiated by the photographic collection of the Memory sector. With a qualitative basis and an exploratory and descriptive universe, the photographic documentary research covers the rectors and events at the University. The technical treatment and registration is being carried out through the mapping in an Excel spreadsheet and inserted in the page of the Repository of the Federal University of Bahia, in the community of the Permanent Archive Commission. The expected result is to safeguard the institution's memory at the time when it allows new studies for the academic community.
