This article discusses the conscious preservation of Vesuvian archaeological built as a collection of memories. We focus on the case of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii (Campania, Italy), which in 2025 inaugurated the Pompeii Children's Museum, the first museum experience aimed at children in an archaeological area in Italy. This educational approach organizes workshops and creative activities for Italian and foreign school groups from a parco diffuso perspective, based on Fredi Drugman's (1982) concept of museo diffuso, an initiative that integrates with the other sites of Greater Pompeii (Boscoreale, Oplontis, Stabiae). In fact, the Vesuvian cities of ruins, par excellence, should be understood through experiences and interactions as open collections, integral parts of human history, in constant conservation and transformation, places of full heritage education and promotion of global citizenship. Then method used in this research draws on neuroscience, cognitive psychology, and phenomenology to propose effective educational tools children's learning. This approach is justified given that, in contemporary society, the boundaries between phenomena tend to disappear completely and progressively give way to fluid practices and forms of hybrid and relative authenticity that unite past and present, education and entertainment, culture and market, history and citizenship. This scenario profoundly alters the inherent conception of the value of archaeological built, which is why the proposed theoretical model presents mechanisms that encourage social integration through the promotion of transgenerational educational.
