Abstract
The book Pelo Prisma Rural by Fernando Cerisara Gil explores how rural themes shape Brazilian literature, present both in explicitly rural novels and more cosmopolitan works. Divided into two parts, the book revisits the concept of regionalism and its historical evolution, highlighting its significance in shaping national literary identity. In the second part, Gil analyzes the representation of rural life in works by authors such as Afonso Arinos, Graciliano Ramos, and Itamar Vieira Júnior, emphasizing narrative distancing and the dehumanization of rural characters. This work is a major contribution to contemporary literary studies.
