Abstract
The Universal Trial Number (UTN) is a unique identifier that facilitates the unambiguous identification of clinical trials. To obtain a UTN, you must follow the instructions on the World Health Organization (WHO) UTN website. It is important to obtain the UTN early in the development of the clinical trial. The UTN becomes part of the trial's identity and must be used whenever information about the study is communicated. This guide therefore provides guidance on how to obtain a UTN from a website registration.
