Abstract
Marx's contribution to ecosocialism, or to eco-Marxism, is not limited to his texts on the relationship with nature - which admittedly remain relatively marginal in his work: there is not a single book, article or book chapter by Marx or Engels dedicated to the ecological crisis. This is entirely understandable, given that capitalist destruction of the environment was just beginning, and not at all as serious as it is today. There are arguments in his writings which do not have nature as their object, but which nevertheless constitute essential contributions to an eco-Marxist reflection, provided they are rethought in the light of the ecological crisis of our time. There are two elements to consider here: 1. Marx's critique of capitalist hubris: unlimited accumulation/expansion. 2. Communism as the "Kingdom of Freedom".
