Abstract
This work, titled "Indexing and Scientific Impact: Strategies for Enhancing Visibility and Relevance of Publications" , was presented at the 2nd International Congress Science and Society (2º CICS) , held at the Santo Agostinho University Center (UNIFSA) in Teresina, PI, during November 4–8, 2025 , focusing on Education and Research as a path to global pacification. The central objective was to discuss and provide guidance on the best strategies for amplifying the visibility and credibility of journals and authors in the academic landscape. The presentation began with a historical context of indexers, from the creation of the first periodicals in the 17th Century (e.g., Philosophical Transactions and Le Journal des Sçavans in 1665) to the evolution with quality control (UlrichsWeb, 1932) , qualification via Impact Factor (Web of Science, 1960) , and the rise of persistent identifiers and altmetrics in the 21st Century (Scopus, DOI, ORCID, ROR). The findings highlight that the indexing process is underpinned by three essential pillars: Editorial Quality, Scientific Rigor, and Technical Conformity , reinforced by principles such as Editorial Ethics (conscious use of AI) , Transparency (following COPE) , and Periodicity (e.g., Continuous Publication - PC). Indexing grants visibility, credibility, and strengthens researchers' impact. In conclusion, adopting sound editorial practices is fundamental to meeting the admission criteria of indexers (such as Scopus, WoS, DOAJ, and SciELO) and is crucial to avoiding association with predatory indexers , thereby contributing to editorial success and academic recognition.
