Introduction to dialectics

Abstract

This is a Portuguese translation of the text corresponding to an introductory course on dialectics taught by the German philosopher and sociologist T.W. Adorno during the summer semester of 1958 at the University of Frankfurt. The translated material is found in Einführung in die Dialektik, a book published by Suhrkamp in 2010, edited by Christoph Ziermann, as volume II of section IV of Adorno's Collected Works. This course edition arguably documents some of Adorno's earliest and most emphatic methodological self-reflections on his conception of materialist dialectics, a topic absolutely crucial for understanding his multifaceted theoretical contributions, the unfolding and deepening of which led to his magnum opus, Negative Dialectics, of 1966.
