Abstract

We are pleased to present another edition of the Mariza Corrêa Visual Anthropology Award 2021. The award is an initiative of the students of the Graduate Program in Social Anthropology (PPGAS) at Unicamp, in a partnership between two projects of the program's student body that has been held since 2017: The John Monteiro Anthropology Journeys and Proa: Journal of Anthropology and Art. The Jornadas, now in its tenth edition, is an event held annually by students entering the PPGAS since the year 2011, which has promoted communication between the research of students from different institutions, debates on the history and new horizons of anthropology, with attention to social issues and their ethical, theoretical and methodological implications for the anthropological craft. Proa, in turn, is a biannual scientific journal in digital format that was created by students of PPGAS in 2009. It has been engaged in the publication and debates on visual anthropology, but also on the interfaces between anthropology and art and the history of anthropology in Brazil and, in particular, at Unicamp.
