Abstract
A Lenda do Boi Falô is a narrative from the city of Campinas, in the interior of the state of São Paulo. It narrates the relationship between the slave Toninho and the baron Geraldo de Rezende, on the eve of the abolition of slavery. The legend has different versions that vary according to the context of enunciation, revealing how part of the people of the city mean the process of slavery and how it produces discourses and silencing on the racial issue.
