Abstract
We will seek, in this essay, to present possible theoretical proposals for thinking about an unusual and particular situation in which many Indians find themselves today. We will start from concrete experiences, the result of a strangeness that borders on perplexity, to show the real difficulty in understanding what is meant by modernity in India. We continue with a bibliographic review of authors who we believe are in the search to understand a reality that needs theoretical assumptions whose scope is capable of encompassing a strong and persistent ancient culture in direct contact with globalization. For this, we will bring the discussion texts by Homi Bhabha and part of Salman Rushdie's work.
