CRediT

As an effort to maintain an equitable policy regarding collaboration in scientific works, Temáticas adopts, as of 2026, the mandatory use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) for papers submitted to the Journal.

Accordingly, we highlight the 14 collaboration roles that must be assigned to the authors based on their participation at the time of submission within the OJS platform:

1. Conceptualization: Formulation of core ideas, definition of research questions, construction of hypotheses, and development of the study's theoretical framework.

2. Data Curation: Activities related to the organization and management of sources; transcription of interviews; organization of field diaries; cataloging of archival documents; cleaning of quantitative databases or coding of qualitative data for use and preservation.

3. Formal Analysis: Application of specific analytical techniques to interpret data. Includes statistical analysis, discourse analysis, content analysis, hermeneutics, ethnography, or historical comparative analysis.

4. Funding Acquisition: Responsibility for submitting projects and obtaining grants or funds that made the research possible.

5. Investigation: Conducting fieldwork and data collection. Includes conducting interviews, focus groups, participant observation, archival research, applying questionnaires, or systematic literature reviews.

6. Methodology: Development or design of the methodological path; creation of interview scripts; definition of samples; choice of approach techniques and analysis models.

7. Project Administration: Management and coordination of the planning and execution of the research activity, controlling deadlines and team deliverables.

8. Resources: Providing specific materials and tools. Includes access to restricted archives, specialized software licenses (NVivo, SPSS, Stata), recording/imaging equipment, or access to specific communities/populations for the study.

9. Software: Applies only if code development occurred. Programming, implementation of algorithms or scripts in languages such as R or Python; development of specific digital tools for the research. (Note: Simple use of text editors or common spreadsheets does not qualify here).

10. Supervision: Leadership and oversight of the research, including the advisory relationship (Master's/PhD) and mentoring of research assistants during the process.

11. Validation: Verification of data consistency. Includes review of transcriptions, checking of documentary sources, data triangulation, or review of statistical calculations to ensure result accuracy.

12. Visualization: Preparation and creation of visual elements for data presentation, such as maps, charts, complex tables, diagrams, photo essays, or infographics.

13. Writing – Original Draft: Writing the first version of the manuscript, including structuring arguments and the initial presentation of results (may include substantive translation of foreign works).

14. Writing – Review & Editing: Critical review of the content, rewriting sections for clarity and flow, responding to reviewers, and final pre-publication edits.

Note: The description of each role was adapted to research practices in the Social Sciences, Humanities, and related fields for better understanding.

In OJS, CRediT will appear in English, in the same sequence as above. Therefore, please monitor and indicate which of these roles the author and co-authors participated in during the construction of the article. To learn more, visit the NISO website regarding CRediT: https://credit.niso.org/
