Temáticas welcomes proposals for Thematic Dossiers that address relevant interdisciplinary debates for the Social Sciences, Humanities, and related fields. The process is governed by the principles of institutional diversity and scientific rigor.
Below are the detailed rules for proposal submission, as well as the responsibilities and editorial workflow that the organizing team must follow.
Organizing Team Profile
- Proposals may be submitted by up to 05 (five) people.
- It is recommended that at least 01 (one) person holds a Doctoral degree (PhD).
- It is essential that the organizing committee members are affiliated with different institutions, fostering research networks and avoiding endogeny.
Proposal Submission
The evaluation of proposals occurs through specific calls from the Editorial Committee. The proposal must be sent to the journal's email (tmaticas@unicamp.br), containing:
- Dossier Title (Portuguese, English, and Spanish).
- Abstract and Justification: A text detailing the relevance of the theme, the core axis of the works, and the contribution to the field.
- Organizing Team Data: Full name, institutional affiliation, ORCID, and Lattes Link for each proponent.
Structure and Dimension of the Dossier
- The finalized dossier must contain a minimum of 5 (five) and a maximum of 10 (ten) manuscripts.
- The articles must ensure regional, institutional, racial, and gender diversity.
- The preparation of a presentation/introduction signed by the organizing team is mandatory after the dossier is closed (this does not count toward the 10-article limit).
Editorial Workflow and Timeline
Once a proposal is approved, the work schedule spans approximately 12 months, from the call for papers to the publication of the final issue.
Phase 1: Call and Submission
- The public call is disseminated by the journal and the Organizing Team.
- Submission of manuscripts is done exclusively through the OJS system.
- For correct identification in the system, authors must rename the document (.doc or .docx) to: NameOfDossier_TitleOfArticle.
Phase 2: Screening (Organizing Team Responsibility)
Within 30 days after the call closes:
- The Organizing Team performs a preliminary analysis (desk review), verifying thematic relevance and minimum manuscript quality.
- A control spreadsheet (sent to the organizers by the Editorial Commission) must be filled out, indicating: "Forward for evaluation" or "Reject at submission."
- Reviewer Recommendation: The Organizing Team must suggest at least 02 reviewers (who must be at least doctoral candidates) for each article approved in the screening. Note: Reviewers cannot belong to the same institution as the article's authors.
Phase 3: Peer Review and Ethics
- Before being sent for peer review, texts are processed through Turnitin software. For manuscripts derived from dissertations or theses: this must be indicated in a footnote on the article title; additionally, articles with a maximum of 40% similarity to the original text will be analyzed; otherwise, they will be rejected during desk review.
- The Organizing Team may invite specialists for articles or interviews. In these specific cases, the evaluation is conducted by the team itself, without the need for anonymity, while maintaining academic rigor.
- Members of the organization may submit articles to their own dossier, but these will undergo the standard external evaluation process.
Phase 4: Decision and Revision
- Authors have up to 40 days for adjustments after peer review. The Organizing Team must verify if the changes requested by the reviewers were met before final approval.
- After the manuscript has been adapted based on the reviewers' indications, the Organizing Team performs the final evaluation of the articles to be published.
Phase 5: Finalization and Publication
- The Organizing Team must ensure that authors correctly fill out the metadata in the system (ORCID, Abstracts in 3 languages, and CRediT Taxonomy for authorship).
- They must also send the final order of the articles (Table of Contents).
- The journal uses continuous publication, meaning articles approved in the final phase will be published as soon as they are finalized. The issue is closed in December, when the Table of Contents and Dossier Presentation/Introduction are added.
