Abstract
Genre Beyond Borders is a collection that focuses on operetta, presenting it as a transnational genre capable of crossing not only geographical boundaries, but also cultural and social ones. Organized by Sonja Starkmeth, Bruno Bower, and Elisabeth Hoegberg, the book brings together a series of essays by authors from different fields, who explore the international circulation of operetta, its local adaptations, and the transformations the genre has undergone over time. The work offers a reflection on the particularity of operetta as a genre that crosses boundaries and challenges conventions, whether in the cultural identities it constructs, the class and gender issues it addresses, or the musical and dramatic elements it incorporates. It is an important contribution to the formation of the field of operetta studies and essential reading for new researchers interested in the subject.References
