Abstract
This article is the result of ethnographic research carried out with ceramists from Rio de Janeiro, which uncovered the intricate and abundant nature of ceramic production, which encompasses technical, scientific, artistic and cultural knowledge. Ceramics are seen as almost objects and almost subjects, carrying the history and identity of their producers. The creative process involves the manipulation of the four elements and the subjectivity of the artist, and can be understood as a form of therapy, promoting well-being and inner peace. The research emphasizes the importance of valuing the ceramists' knowledge and traditions, contributing to Rio de Janeiro's identity and culture.
