Abstract
Embodying Spirit, Female Exu, Lady of the Crossroads. Messenger, Daughter of Disorder, Queen of Laughter. Loving, Loyal Friend, Gatekeeper Sentinel. Serpent-Woman, Divine Lilith, Beautiful Lady, Red Rose, Poisonous Snake. Advocate. I bow my head and ask permission to present this work. Photographs of Queen Pombagira Sete Encruzilhadas in the crown of Pai Valdo de Iansã, from the Cabana do Preto Velho da Mata Escura, in the Bom Jardim neighborhood, Fortaleza-CE. The images unveil the subtle body, between worlds, bringing and carrying Pombagira to and from the crossroads of existence. Daughter of the streets, Majesty Pombagira enchants through the blood pulsing in her medium’s veins. The images are rides and laughter. Spins, turns, circles. Pulsing life. Shedding. Binding. Knife’s cut. Pleasure and ecstasy. Prayer and healing. Mystery.
