Abstract
In the last years the term of a global baroque bacame more prominent. This article
presented as prelimenary reflections intends to contextualize this transhistorical and transcultural
approach within the developments of the so-called global art history. It also tries to (de-)construct
its historiographical fundaments in the 19th century as well as its possible theoretical implications
for the 21st century.
