Abstract
There are several moments in Lasar Segall’s artistic carrier in which he turned with more intensity to Jewish themes. In each of these moments the dialog with Jewish culture assumed different characteristics, according to the historical and intellectual context
in which it occured. The present paper is an attempt to analyze the history of Lasar Segall’s relation to Judaism, treating this relation, not only as a consequence of his personal history, but above all as the result of his intellectual confrontation with the important debates concerning Jewish culture that occurred in Europe at the time.
