Abstract
This article discusses the work of Swedish artist Dick Bengtsson (1936-1989) who, starting from a marginal position in the artistic context of his country, critically explored in his paintings the intertwining of the ideals of modern art, Nazi-fascism and advertising. His work style, which included the insertion of controversial and provocative symbols such as the swastika and the creation of a patina of deteriorated appearance on his canvases, is related to the works of Robert Rauschenberg and Marcel Duchamp.
